Eating Tibetan food in Chengdu tonight. The streets in this area are scattered with Tibetan monks, this pic has one in the background. Incense is burning in the air. A few thousand year old temple is across the street from here.
Since people have been asking about some of the food, I thought you might like this. The typical lunch is family style, we all eat out of the same bowls/plates with used chop sticks (like double dipping a chip). We ate some chicken, pork, shark, vegetables, tofu, clams, shrimp, crab tonight. Doesn't taste like home.
We made a morning trip to the great wall today. We had a great time. Elle brought her friend Sarah... The Chinese we passed kept commenting "look, they have four kids and one has blond hair". Finally, a coolness in the air was so refreshing. Some places are straight up, so you better do your stair-master before you make this trip.
Here in China there is a saying that "lines are for the foreigners". Why waste space on a road? If the lines are painted for 2 lanes, you can easily fit an extra car or two on the blacktop!!
Riding our bikes to school is really fun if we can keep Leafe from taking us out! He doesn't ride a straight path, he darts and swerves over the entire bike path. Week 3 of school.
